Suzi stared down Lara, feeling compelled to take her sister's side of the feud, given their new closeness. It went without saying that this was her sister's rival. It was the only possible answer, given the melon-chested shoulder spica and her Meadowbrook blazer but Suzi had known with certainty after seeing her when she tagged along with their parents to pick up Ros.  Lord Croft made it very clear who he was and that his daughter should not have to wait to be seen like everyone else did.

Without saying anything, Suzi stood up and unsuspectingly began to walk down the hall toward the exam rooms where she expected Lara to be headed shortly. Near a flight of stairs, however, Suzi stood just inside the door frame of a public restroom to watch and wait.

As they wished, Lara was called back immediately and she started toward Suzi unknowingly. Suzi stayed out of site and carefully monitored each step Lara took so that she could execute her plan perfectly. As she passed, Suzi stuck out her foot just in front of the walking cast to trip Lara without her even feeling Suzi. As she began to lose her balance. Suzi strafed behind the stumbling woman and deliberately put pressure on her lower back- again undetectable due to the thick plaster- and forced her tumbling down the stairs. Suzi passed behind her, still unseen, and down an adjacent corridor without even looking back. The sounds she heard made it clear that her mission was a success.

To avoid suspicion, Suzi waited a while to return to Ros. She had to ask where to find her sister, as she had already been taken to an exam room of her own. Ros had no idea where Suzi had gone or what had happened, but when she tried to make small talk after an effort to get an answer to her questions was unsuccessful, she noted that she didn't see Lara leave yet. With a gleam in her eye, Suzi replied that she wouldn't be for a while and Ros assumed the worst. It wasn't that she minded that something bad happened to Lara, really, just that she felt partially responsible for her sister's actions.

Her own appointment was nearly complete. The x-rays showed healing but the heavy casts put a lot of stress on her legs, which concerned the orthopedic surgeon. He had reservations about allowing her to continue to walk on her healing legs and gave her two options to consider, remain wheelchair-bound for the duration or be recasted from toe to thigh for twice as long and use a walker to get around.

As she was mulling over her decision, the doctor was called away to an urgent case where a woman in her twenties sustained multiple fractures from a fall which occurred just down the hall in that very hospital.
Prev:  Memories of Meadowbrook - Chapter 13Lara was miserable at school while Ros felt like her time at home was going by much easier than she expected. Suzi was a little bit annoying but not in the way she usually was a brat or a pest.  She treated Ros like a celebrity.  She looked up to her and wanted to be just like her when she went away to finishing school. Ros had acted like the rebel Suzi always wanted to be.  It hadn't even been on purpose really, but if Suzi was actually going to be helpful and nice for a change she was all for it.  They spent a lot of time together and Ros began to tire of retelling the same stories and describing the school but it was never a bad thing to have Suzi nearby and interested when she needed something. Balancing herself on the super thick and heavy SLWC, she would swing the massive LLC on her opposite leg- equal in proportion to the dumbbell she was walking on- and set her SLWC down again carefully. Suzi was happy to help her practice because it made her an accomplice i Next:  Memories of Meadowbrook - Chapter 15Ros sat in the exam room, trying to decide between getting her casts off faster but having to use a wheelchair or some mobility with DLLWC's and a walker to balance with. It was hard for her to concentrate, however, with what she had pieced together in her mind of what her sister had apparently done. Suzi returned a knowing look, aware of Ros' disapproval but not remorseful in any way. Finally, Ros inquired and Suzi burst with excitement as she retold the events of the past hour as though she was ready to begin but needed Ros to initiate it for fear of reprimand.
She began by explaining why she felt like Lara deserved to be punished for the way she treated Ros and then gave a detailed description of what she had done. Although Ros hated Lara, she felt guilty for her sister's actions- as though she caused them for some reason by speaking so negatively about her every time Suzi asked. She may have exaggerated how cruel Lara had been to keep Suzi's interest in her stories and thereby her
